Ryan Michael Eiler, Dedicated Shakopee Teacher, Coach, and National Guard Member, Dies Following Tragic Crash in Edina
Ryan Michael Eiler, a 32-year-old educator and coach from Champlin, passed away on April 26, 2026, after a crash in Edina that has deeply affected the Shakopee community.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. on Highway 169 near Highway 62, where Eiler’s vehicle struck a cement median barrier before emergency responders transported them to Hennepin County Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead.
Officials confirmed that road conditions were dry and that other contributing factors are still under investigation.
Eiler served as a health and physical education teacher at the Academies of Shakopee High School since 2021 and later became an assistant coach for the boys’ sprint track and field team.
Colleagues and students remember Eiler as energetic and supportive, with one tribute noting they “made a lasting impact far beyond the classroom.”
In addition to teaching, Eiler proudly served in the Army National Guard and remained committed to leadership and service.
The community continues to mourn the loss while honoring a life devoted to education, mentorship, and public service.
