Owain Harper, Beloved Nurse and Community Member, Dies After Asthma Attack in Tweed Region, NSW

Owain Harper, a young and compassionate nurse, tragically passed away on March 20th, 2026, at the age of 26. The sudden loss has left the Harper family and the Tweed community in deep shock and sorrow.

Owain suffered a severe asthma attack that took his life despite the best efforts of medical staff at Murwillumbah Hospital. His sister, Grace, was by his side during the final moments, a testament to the close-knit family bond that defined Owain’s life.

A dedicated enrolled nurse, Owain worked at several aged care facilities in the Tweed region, where he was highly respected by both his colleagues and the individuals he cared for. Owain was also in the midst of pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing at Southern Cross University (SCU), showing his unwavering dedication to helping others.

“His joyful energy and bright smile will be greatly missed,” shared a friend in an online tribute. “Owain had a heart full of love, and his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.”

Plans for a funeral and memorial service at Tweed Valley Lawn Cemetery & Crematorium in Duranbah are currently being organized by the Harper family, with further details to be shared soon.
