Marana Community Mourns Mikaela Durfey After Fatal Incident Near West Alegria Drive On May 25, 2026
Marana authorities identified 36-year-old Mikaela Durfey as the person found shot and deceased Monday night, May 25, 2026, in the driveway of a residence in the 6700 block of West Alegria Drive near the Silverbell and Cortaro area.
Police said Durfey’s former spouse, 37-year-old Brian Schnurr, left the scene before officers found a blue Dodge Challenger less than a mile away at Lil Abner’s Steakhouse.
Inside the vehicle, officers found two children under age 4 unharmed and safely recovered them.
Investigators later found Schnurr deceased in a nearby desert area, and Marana Police said the two deaths remain connected as detectives continue reviewing evidence and conducting interviews.
Officials have not publicly shared the children’s exact relationship to those involved, and authorities said further information may follow as the inquiry continues.
