Katy Ann Schaefer Remembered After Grant County Crash Near Elbow Township On May 11, 2026 Report
Katy Ann Schaefer, 26, of Montfort, died after a pickup truck crash early Sunday morning in rural Grant County near Elbow Township.
The May 11, 2026 report said a 17-year-old Lancaster driver traveled east in an older Ford F350 before losing control near Buckwheat Ridge Road.
The truck left the roadway, crossed lanes, entered a ditch, and rolled after striking an embankment.
Emergency crews airlifted the teen driver to a Madison hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Responders found Schaefer near the wreckage after the crash, and officials pronounced Schaefer dead at the scene on Buckwheat Ridge Road.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to review speed and other factors while Lancaster and Montfort mourn this loss.
