Isaac Seekell, 21, Remembered After Small Aircraft Incident Near Westerly State Airport In Rhode Island
Isaac Seekell, 21, of Charlestown, Rhode Island, died Monday, May 18, 2026, after a small aircraft went down in an open field near Airport Road, across from Westerly State Airport and close to the Stop & Shop area.
Emergency calls came in just after noon, and Westerly Fire Department crews, EMS, T.F. Green Airport officials, Rhode Island State Police, the FAA, and the National Transportation Safety Board responded to the scene.
Seekell was taken to a nearby hospital, where they later died from injuries sustained in the aircraft incident.
Seekell attended Chariho High School in Washington County, later studied at Word of Life Bible Institute in New York, played soccer, built community through faith, and returned home to continue flight training.
Federal officials have opened an active investigation, and no official cause had been declared as of May 20, 2026.
Memorial and funeral service details will be announced later by family members.
