Anderson County Community Mourns Elijah Patrick Chapman, 20, After Fatal Highway Crash Near Middleton Road
Elijah Patrick Chapman, 20, died after a single-vehicle crash on Abbeville Highway near Middleton Road in Anderson County shortly before 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to the shared report dated June 1, 2026.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, found Elijah trapped inside the vehicle, freed Elijah, and transported Elijah to AnMed for urgent treatment.
Medical teams and first responders worked to save Elijah, but Elijah later died from crash-related trauma.
Preliminary findings said Elijah lost control while traveling along Abbeville Highway, and the vehicle struck a tree.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death as accidental, while the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office continued reviewing the circumstances.
