Christopher Ramos, 53, Beloved Lindenhurst Fishing Shop Owner, Remembered After Death Inside Pelagic Outfitters On West Montauk Highway
Christopher Ramos, 53, longtime owner of Pelagic Outfitters in Lindenhurst, was found deceased inside the fishing tackle shop on West Montauk Highway near South Broadway on Friday morning.
Suffolk County police responded to the store, secured the area, and continued an active investigation as detectives reviewed evidence and spoke with possible witnesses.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner removed Ramos for an autopsy while officials worked to determine the circumstances of the death.
Family members, friends, customers, and the Long Island fishing community remembered Ramos as a hardworking parent, loyal partner, generous neighbor, and trusted business owner.
Many customers said Ramos treated people like family and built Pelagic Outfitters into a respected gathering place for gear, advice, and conversation.
As of Saturday morning, May 9, 2026, authorities had not announced any arrests.
